COSTUME REQUIREMENTS

WORKSHOP - WINTER 2020 - ANNIE KIDS

GENERAL INFO

Although RFKT will provide the bulk of your costume, you are responsible for providing proper shoes, socks/tights, and proper undergarments as specified below. Children should arrive at the theater for dress rehearsals already wearing proper undergarments, socks/tights. The costume fitting schedule is below.

PROPER UNDERGARMENTS

HAIR AND MAKE-UP MEMO

PREPARATION
Please read through to the end as this memo contains a lot of important information. Actors need to come to dress rehearsals with hair and make-up already complete, as there is no time for this at the theater. Actors should also already be wearing proper undergarments (see costume memo) when they arrive. Water is the only beverage allowed backstage (anything else could stain the stage or costumes). Please make sure all actors have a bottle of water as it is warm under the bright stage lights.

MAKE-UP
Everyone needs to wear base (foundation) so as not to look washed out under the bright stage lights. Base should match skin tone or be slightly darker (one shade). Eye shadow should be neutral shades of tans, browns, beige. Mascara in black or brown. No eyeliner. Blush and lipstick in shades of rose or berry only. (No hot pinks or dark reds as these stain costumes and look inappropriate on stage).

WIGGING
Characters listed below will be wearing wigs. RFKT provides the wigs and wig caps (covering worn on head under wig). Wig Caps will be given out at first dress rehearsal and are kept by actors and should be brought back to be worn at second dress rehearsal/performance. Please follow wig preparation instructions carefully.

WIG PREPARATION
Girls: Place hair in low ponytail. Spray entire head with solid coat of hairspray. If hair is too short for ponytail, comb neatly, clip/pin away from face, spray entire head with solid coat of hairspray.
Boys: Comb hair neatly, off the face. Spray entire head with solid coat of hairspray.

HAIR
We ask that everyone (girls and boys) wears lots of hairspray. As we run thru the show with costume and wig changes, hair tends to get very messy. It is important for actors' hair to look good for photos and performance. Any freeze hold spray in an aerosol can works best.

QUICK TIPS FOR MAKING A GREAT BUN (if bun is requested in HAIR BY ROLE section)
To make a secure bun:  Make a ponytail at place on head where you want the bun. Secure with an elastic.  Wind hair around the center, don't worry about pieces coming out. Take a hairnet (matching hair color) and place over bun and pull tight, tucking all stray pieces inside.  Wind excess hairnet around the bun. Secure with bobby pins around entire perimeter of bun.  Spray bun and entire head with lots and lots of hairsray.

COSTUME FITTING SCHEDULE

GENERAL INFO
All children must attend a costume fitting so that they may be assigned a costume for the show. These fittings should move quickly because most children will have their costume held up to them for length and width, with no need to actually try on.

Costume fittings take place either before or after a scheduled rehearsal (usually session #7, #8 or a brush-up session.)  If your fitting is before your rehearsal, please arrive at the start of the fitting time on the schedule. If your fitting is after the rehearsal, the directors will bring the group directly to the costume room, and parents may arrive approx 20 mins. after fitting time and wait in the lobby for children to be released.
