The Sound of Music
Maria is a postulant studying to become a nun, but she is just too high-spirited for the religious life. Instead, she becomes the governess for the seven children of Captain VonTrapp, a widowed naval captain. Maria charms the whole family with her generous spirit, her enthusiasm for life, and her love of music. She gradually captures the hearts of the Von Trapp children as well as the Captain himself. As with any good story, there is an underlying truth: that we each have a life we were born to live, and it is our task to find that life. And, of course, The Sound Of Music features some of the best songs of all time, such as "Do Re Mi", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and "My Favorite Things". School Edition is an epic story about the survival of the human spirit, with music and scenes adapted for younger performers from the award-winning musical.

ABOUT MAINSTAGE PERFORMANCES
The Mainstage program features performers in grades 1 - 12. These dedicated young people must audition to be in the program, and they rehearse three times a week for a month to prepare for our biggest productions of the year. Mainstage shows occur in Summer and Winter at the Tarrytown Music Hall. Tickets are available to the public. We also strongly encourage school groups, camp groups, and scout troops to attend!
