SUMMER MAINSTAGE AUDITIONS

Matilda

For performers entering grades 3-12
Program runs late May - early August

Based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book of the same name, Matilda follows Matilda Wormwood, a bright little girl who immerses herself in books. Matilda is discarded and belittled by her dimwitted parents—her father insists on calling her a boy and harps on her “stupidity” for preferring reading to watching the telly—and her hostile headmistress, the outrageous and wicked Miss Trunchbull. Reclusive, but with an ever-growing imagination and sharp mind, and with a caring protector in her teacher Miss Honey, Matilda dreams of a better life, daring to take a stand against unjust forces and to grasp her destiny in her own, tiny hands.

CALLBACK AUDITION MATERIAL
The callback materials below are organized in folders labeled by Character Name.  Simply click the folder with the character's name on it, and you will find all the callback materials for that character within that folder.  Some characters will have a short piece of a song, 1-2 scenes, and/or short monologue.  Please be sure to look over all of those materials if you are called back for that role. For characters who have a song to prepare, there is a vocal track and karaoke track to rehearse with. (The sheet music is also provided if you find that useful to help you prepare.)

WHAT TO BRING
